Path 1: The HRS RebateHome Renovation Savings · use your own power
Up to $5,000 for rooftop solar ($1,000 per kW) and up to $5,000 for a paired battery ($300 per kWh), each capped at 50% of costs. The system is designed so your home uses the power it produces instead of sending it to the grid.
You need written pre-approval from the program and your utility before buying or installing equipment. Rooftop, first-time installations only.
Path 2: Net MeteringHydro Ottawa or your local utility · bill credits
No rebate. Instead, the extra power your panels send to the grid earns credits on your hydro bill, which carry forward for up to 12 months.
You choose one path, not both. During your assessment, we'll compare them using your roof, your hydro bill and your long-term plans.
